Leongatha
Leongatha
The commercial and civic centre of South Gippsland
Leongatha is the largest town in Prom Country, offering boutique shopping in a pleasant country setting. A good selection of shops extend along both sides of the wide boulevards of Bair Street and McCartin Street. Several historic buildings including the Court House, Post Office and Memorial Hall display some of South Gippsland's most iconic architecture. Leongatha township is located in a predominantly dairying area. The town's long agricultural heritage is underpinned by having a major dairy processing facility just north of the town centre, producing milk-based products for Australian and overseas markets.
Leongatha is also the start of the Great Southern Rail Trail. Click here for more about Leongatha.
